Hai Nan Town @ Pengkalan Weld

The food is quite ok overall but the price is at the high side compared to other restaurants in Penang. But having said that, I think I’ll recommend Hainan Town if you want to bring first time visitors to Penang to try out Penang nyonya food. The restaurant decor and ambience is nice & you can choose to sit indoor with air-condition or outdoor with views overlooking the harbour and QE2, another fine dining restaurant.

Domremy dessert outlet store is a place where you can get a dessert or cake for 150-300 Yen.
Yes. I’m not joking! it’s that cheap!! The cakes are being sold for a much cheaper price here compared to the normal stores because some of cakes which are not so perfectly made but still have exactly the same taste are being sold at the “outlet”.

I’ve tried a few of their stuff, some are nice & some are just so so.. :p
A lot of them have whipped cream which I don’t really like.
I always take out the whipped cream. lol

Btw. their custard pudding (プリン）is only 50Yen!

If you’re not very fussy on the taste and just want your dessert fix!
Domremy dessert outlet is the place to check out when you’re in Tokyo.
They have a 4 outlets in Tokyo, located at Takasaki, Kita Senju, Ueno Shinobazu & Chiba.

If I’m in Ueno & wanna have some cakes, I’ll usually grab something from Domremy  &  a drink from the convenience store and head for Ueno park. Find a bench near Shinobazu pond and start people watching :)

Btw. Domremy Ueno Shinobazu branch is just opposite one of the park entrance.

[Japan] Zenzai Mochi in Izumo

Zenzai Mochi shop in Izumo(出雲) , Japan

I’m really glad I found this place coz’ their mochi is really yummy!
Just in case some of you do not know, Mochi (餅) is a Japanese rice cake made of glutinous rice.

I had 三色吉兆餅 (3 colors good luck mochi) which have 3 different taste.
1st one from the left is served with kinako (soya bean flour)
2nd one is pink mochi served with Azuki (red bean)
3rd one is served with soya sauce sweeten with sugar.
All the mochis are soft & I love all the 3 flavors ;)
Oh. btw. it’s 550 Yen which is quite reasonable.

The shop is really small with a few tables that can only accommodate less than 15 people.
