I went to see a picture books exhibition at the
International Library of Children’s Literature (国立国会図書館国際子ども図書館)
in Ueno last Saturday.
This building with a Rennaisance style architecture was first built in 1906.
I’m not sure when but it underwent restoration, the design was done by
Ando Tadao (安藤 忠雄), a very famous Japanese Architect.
The exterior was restored as it is but the structure of the existing building was
reinforced against earthquakes.
The exhibition of overseas children’s picture books from the 1920′s to 1930′s was quite an eye opener coz’ I got to see picture books from countries like Russia, France, America & etc. And I saw a picture book drawn by Joan Miro too!!! Arh… I wanna visit Spain so much!
Oh. btw. The exhibition is free. I wanna go back there to check out their children books library! There’s some really nice collection of picture books from all over the world in that library. I only got a little peek on them coz’ it was near to closing when I was there last Saturday.

Cow Books in Nakameguro
20th February, 2010
A picture of Cow books swamped by a group of ladies with their DSLR cameras…*funny*
Anyway, Cow Books is a unique bookstore specializing in books from the 1960s to 70s. I don’t know much about books from that period of time…Their website says “We are always purchasing peculiar books…” Omoshiroii! (Interesting)
