The Kek Lok Si Temple (极乐寺) is a very famous Buddhist temple situated in Ayer Itam, Penang.
It’s also a popular tourist spot too but when I was there last May, I didn’t see that many tourists.
There are souvenirs shops along the stairs heading to the temple but
most of the shops were closed when I was there.
Maybe it was a week day and usually local tourists only visits on weekends…

Anyway, I didn’t take much photos of this place but if you want to see more photos,
maybe you can check out images here >>

Btw. This place is particularly beautiful during the Chinese New Year when
it’s decorated with lanterns & being lighted up at night.

The temple location on Google map over here >>

p/s: Finally finish posting photos from this roll of film…

Definitely will recommend anyone who visit Penang to check out this place.
The intricate carvings, elaborate furnishings and the amount of antiques displayed in the
Pinang Peranakan Mansion was really an eye opener.

Btw. They offer free guide upon request. The guide who showed us around was such a humorous person!!
My friend and I truly enjoyed touring the place with him & got to know more about the place through
his interesting story telling skills.

After getting a free tour of the place, we went to their kitchen for some local treats.
We had ice kacang (in the last photo)
Btw. They also offer other Baba Nyonya desserts and food.

Oh. And this place was used as a filming location for a few films/ dramas too,
Singapore tv drama “The little Nyonya“(小娘惹),
Malaysian tv drama, “The Iron Lady“(女頭家),
Chinese movie about Dr Sun Yat Sen refuge life, “Road to Dawn“《夜明》
