Myeongdong Catholic Cathedral is Korea’s oldest parish church and
the symbol of Korean Catholics.
Both the architecture and interior is beautiful.

The church is open to public, visitors can go in the church freely.
I did went inside and sat for a while.
Sorry I didn’t take any photos of the stunning stained glass
or the pipe organ to show you..
I was too immersed in admiring it :)

Btw. If you are a fan of Korean TV drama, “You Are Beautiful“,
you might know this place as it’s one of the filming locations for the drama.
This is where Park Shin Hye(as Go Minam) waited for
Jang Geun Seok (as Hwang Tae gyeong)

I didn’t know that there are such Western style buildings in Korea.

Oh. There are quite a lot of western style buildings in Korea. Some are old but some of these buildings are new builded in old western style. For example the Paju English Village is modeled after a village in England.

Absolutely agree with you regarding the interior of the cathedral. It is beautiful. I attended Easter Mass at the cathedral in April this year, and all I could do was admire.

Nice photos. I liked the one of the confession sign the best.

I used to attend mass at this church once in a while but most of the time I’d go to a church closer to where I lived. For the first few months I’d attend the early morning Sunday English mass at the cathedral and was amazed at how tranquil the shopping area of Myeongdong was. It was a stark change once the night crowd settled in.

Oh! Yeah. I can imagine what you’re saying. I guess most of the people starts to pour in after work in the evening.
