Popiah (薄餅) at Jonkers Street, Malacca
Popiah is a Chinese spring roll filled with steamed or stir-fried jacama (known locally as bangkuang),
diced beancurb, bean sprouts, lettuce leaves, grated carrots & shredded omelette.
The ingredients are being wrapped with paper thin white wrappers (local call it popiah skin).
Btw. Popiah skin is a little bit different from the Vietnamese spring roll wrappers .
Vietnamese spring roll wrappers are made of rice flour while popiah skin is made from wheat flour.

I love the turnips in popiah :) a very simple pick-me-up for times when you don’t want a heavy lunch.

Popiah wrap is much drier and harder then Viet wrapper. :)
Oh Really? I don’t really feel Popiah wrap is harder compared to Viet wrapper….just my bias coz’ I like popiah ;p

It’s yummy..hope you can try them over there…but I’m not sure if the Chinese restaurant there serve this coz’ it’s kind like a street snack.
