Tosokchon Samgyetang (토속촌삼계탕) located near Gyeongbukgung station is really famous
for their signature samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup)
Samgyetang is one of my favorite Korean food & I would not miss the opportunity to eat it whenever I’m in Korea.
It’s really comforting to have it during winter as it really warms up the body.
15,000 KRW for a bowl of samgyetang. The portion is really big.
It also comes with a small cup of complimentary ginseng liquor.
Oh. And there’s free flow of kimchi, I especially like their Kkakdugi (radish kimchi)
My friend and I ate so much of it while waiting for our samgyetang to be served. lol
Honestly, I feel that this place is a bit overrated!?
Yes. Their samgyetang is good but there are also a lot of restaurant out there
that serve very good samgyetang.
Anyway, you might wanna avoid coming during lunch time as it’s really crowded.
My friend and I went there after lunch hour and we got a seat with no hassle at all.
Not only locals go there, it’s also popular among tourists.
Oh. One thing I like about this restaurant is their traditional korean style architecture & interior.
And I love sharing table with the locals as you’ll have a chance to strike up a conversation with them ;)
Koreans are really friendly & chatty..especially those ajusshi & ajuma. hehehe

What a beautiful old building!
The gingseng chicken soup sure look like super yummy! I wonder how long ago I had this soup. Looking at your pics make me want to dine at a Korean restaurant soon ^_^
Yeah. The building is very nice and the shop is very spacious with a few rooms. I think we ate Korean food before when I was in SG long long time ago.
This makes me really want to visit South Korean. It’s actually not that easy to find good Korean food in Taipei!
Really!? I thought Korean & Jap food are quite popular in Taiwan!? no? btw. Is there any Korean Town in Taiwan?
Looks very yummy! I’ve been to Seoul twice last year but never had ginseng chicken soup – I should have stopped by your blog beforehand, then I would have known what to look for!
You should really try ginseng chicken soup at least once! Maybe you can check out Korean restaurant in HK..they should have it too.
